YO! Them's fightin' werds! "RaCaD" was a fine bit of visually recording what was fundamentally a theater performance. In contrast, Kubric's best work (e.g. 2001, Clockwork Orange) were fundamentally FILMS. They were works that could only exist as film* and expressed things in ways that only film can (not to mention commenting on film itself in various ways in both example films)J.H. wrote:IT was the dumbest movie ever. Stanley Kubric was an over-rated director if there ever was one!

My guess is that you are more interested in things along the lines of 'an acting performance', which is fine, but isn't necessarily what Kubric's films are about. They exist as wholes, as films. What might also turn you off is the fact that Kubric isn't big into 'feelings' in his films. Kubric's films are crystals - cold and hard, but nearly perfect. His work may not be your cup of tea, but he's still one of the great directors - easily up there with Eisenstein, Kurosawa, Welles and the rest.
Pet Theory: Eyes Wide Shut was made to make money to fund AI - I have no proof of this, but it explains a lot! (Am I the only one who was more interested in Kidman's character than whatshisface?)
