I just took the test again and got 100. I don't know how accurate this thing is?

The way the scoring works has little to do with getting a question correct or not, it has to do with your confidence in your answer. For example, if you put a 100% in for a question that turns out to be false, you are considered a "risk taker" and you get a low score for that question, not because you got it wrong, but because you went all out. For the same question, if you put 80%, your basically saying you're not willing to put everything into the question. You still got it wrong, but you score a bit higher because you took less risk. A 100 means you are not a risk taker, a 0 would mean you probably wear gasoline-soaked undies while standing out in the open on the highest hill during a desert lightning storm.

A score of 50 simply means you have an average-level of risk taking, it has nothing to do with how many you got right or wrong. At least, that's how I'm understanding it.

I don't think thats right. I think the exercise was about realizing "actual" risk as opposed to "percieved" risk. You got graded with a RQ designation and from what I could see a higher RQ means you understand "actual" risk and won't let your decisions be swayed by "percieved" risk.
I'm not contesting the way the test was set up. I'm contesting the accuracy of the interpretation of the test results. If what the results say is true I should be a captain of industry!

mike has it right....and scoring high should suck for all real climbers out there. so if you scored above 50, consider turning in your harness for knitting needles.

This test is dumb. I got a perfect score (99) without being a good risk assesser. Here is the algorithm. 1) find ONE thing you KNOW is false. Mark 0. 2) Find ONE thing you know is true. Mark 100. 3) Mark 50 for ALL 48 of the remaining questions.

Of course, if I actually play their game...I'm apparently a dumbass.

I know I love the risky shit, so I guess my 40 makes sense. But I have survived ragged edge climbing on rock, snow and ice, fast motorcycles, faster cars, guns, bar room brawls, paragliders, crazy women, crazier friends, solo hunts in serious Grizzly country, recreational drugs, absolutely stupid-assed swims, and all manner of other fun stuff. All with only rare injuries, physical or emotional. So, just maybe, my risk assessment isn't really all that bad.
