Just got back from a winter ascent of Mt Washington. Got really lucky with the weather. A balmy 16 degrees with zero degree wind chills. A few days earlier, it was -50 degree wind chills.

Not climbing outside at all but running endurance laps indoors getting ready for our semi annual trip to the gorge in late March.

Training for Denali starts in June for 2011.

RJackson, you better be training for the gunks in July.

It's on the agenda (the trip that is). I should be in some sort of shape by then. Hoping for a repeat of last year's good times! And maybe 2 days of awesome weather instead of 1. I'll be ready and I'm looking forward to some more great moderates and trying at least one harder line.

Just don't go falling off some mountain or getting frostbite.

When we did Pinnacle gully a few years ago, ambient at the start of the route was -5, with 20-30 mile an hour winds. Even the locals were getting tired of the cold, and the ice as really brittle all over. But, walking down in the dark with a full moon so bright you didn't need a headlamp made it worth while.
