This is super interesting to me. I'm in the same boat except the magic number is 180. Looking at my training log, hardest sends to date have all been when I was between 177 and 181. Even going up to 185 or so and it becomes hard to climb anything 5.12 that requires endurance.

I got down to 178 and maintined it for 4 weeks this fall. During that time I sent two 12c's, a 12b and worked two other 12c's as projects. I was close on both of the projects. Then comes the holidays. You try to be good, but wtf.

The bad thing now is that I've identified the line and when I go over it is negatively affecting me mentally. "I can't climb this, I weigh too much".

I know a couple of 200 pounders that climb laps on 5.12s, I always wonder what they're capable of if they would drop 20lbs.

I'm 175 and climbing around 12a-b. At 187 I was climbing 11b-c and getting hurt a lot.

The only way I'm over going to climb 5.13 is to lose another 15lbs so I've decided I'm cool with only climbing easy 5.12s.

That sounds all well and good, but here's the problem.
Get some sour cream and onion chips with some dip, man, some beef jerky, some peanut butter. Get some Häagen-Dazs ice cream bars, a whole lot, make sure chocolate, gotta have chocolate, man. Some popcorn, red popcorn, graham crackers, graham crackers with marshmallows, the little marshmallows and little chocolate bars and we can make s'mores, man. Also, celery, grape jelly, Cap'n Crunch with the little Crunch berries, pizzas. We need two big pizzas, man, everything on 'em, with water, whole lotta water, and Funyons.
"But the motto was, never think you're that cool - you're still just climbing rocks...in the woods...with bugs...and everyone thinks you're crazy."

I know of a handful of guys who weigh 220-250 who climb 5.12c/d sport and 5.12a/b trad (redpointing--not hangdogging. Any weakling can dog up the 5.12's at the Red.)
Hauling a big ego up a route adds at least a full grade.

Honestly i weigh somewhere between 190 and 210 my weight fluxuates really, there are some climbs i can do better at 210 def if i have been training or there are some routes that i struggle on at 190 by no means am i climbing 13's or anything but 12's are easier for me 210. I use to weigh 180 and i felt fucking great but honestly i feel better at 190 200 and even at 210 . I am 6'2. I have been slacking lately with the winter and its depressing so I stay at 210 and go to the gym when i feel things arent "tight" I have what they call a barrell chest it just sticks out i cant help it i got it from my parents. but when i was down at 180 people told me i looked unhealthy. so i scarfed chicken and bannas and salads more chicken and then some more chicken. I feel fucking great and only will continue to get stronger and climb harder. and muscle is heavier than fat fatty mcfattersons
