Has anyone suggested any equipment for this guy to purchase? I started out bouldering, that is the cheapest and simplest option. All you really need is shoes and a chalk bag. You will just have to hope there are other people at whatever area you go to with crash pads.
If you are wanting to rope up, then you will need shoes and a chalk bag still, a harness, a rope, a descender/belay device, and a set of quickdraws (at least 10).
