Looks cool. I wish I was free last weekend. Post on Friday if it's still gonna be climbable on Saturday morning.mike_a_lafontaine wrote:OK, this is supposed to be a public link to the photo album. Last time I tried this it only linked to the first picture, hopefully better results this time!
These were taken at the tallest column (about 75 feet) of three. Good, hard ice about 2 feet thick and 10 feet wide. Wonderful stuff!

Any ice forming?
Life's too short to drink cheap beer or cheap coffee.

I might be. One thing going for it is that it is in the shade during the warmest part of the day and it is awfully thick. If the nights are cold enough to freeze it back up, Saturday morning might be a good time to try.John E wrote:Looks cool. I wish I was free last weekend. Or..... you could come out here where there is legal ice climbing! Cody has some really good shit to offer, and there's a cool festivus coming up, too. If any of you are actually interested in this pm me and I can help you find places to stay in Cody with friends, or in Kenny's hostel....

I'm interested. I'm also interested in a three-some with two supermodels. Unfortunately, I don't have the finances for either.dmw wrote:Or..... you could come out here where there is legal ice climbing! Who are the Cincy area ice climbers on here? I know of a place north of Cincinnati that freezes into a thick curtain normally at least once a winter. Maybe 35 ft high and 100 ft long and can easily be top roped. Much more vertical ice than 'The Cut in the Hill', so probably needs more of an extended duration of sub-freezing weather, since the bottom 8 or 10 feet do not touch the clay and shale wall and you can actually walk behind it. Private property, but secluded from sight. We used to frequent it as kids(not climbing, just ice busting) and never had any access issues, but there are houses in the general area now that were not there then.
No way the conditions are "right" now with the warm up, but I am hoping for an extended cold snap before they melt too much.
PM me and I will get in contact when I think the ice is fat enough.
