fat boys and climbing

Post by One-Fall »

As brought up in another thread, what is considered big for a sport climber, and how many top end climbers are actually big?

John Dunne is the only one who I can think of that breaks 200.

From the God Father of Bouldering: From purely personal observations, I suspect that - if any sort of generality exists - genetics is quite a bit more important than training, although both are of course required for top performances. Some people - both men and women - are simply designed for climbing, while others are not.

I've met alot of Big climbers. I think, from my observations, that its how bad you want to climb and how dedicated you are to progressing.

I'm fat and I climb.

Well, at least I call it climbing, others may disagree!

Shamis, Piggy and I were all on team FA (Fat Ass) 3 years ago. We averaged over 200. Since them we have all dropped a bit. I think I'm in the lead with 20lbs loss.

Regardless or weight 11c-d to 12a-b seem to be our norm.

I've not lost a pound...

Big E is 225 and he walks low 12's...

but then again, if one fall is asking for top end climbers over 200, that is a VERY short list...
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
