Not true. I have within the last Month conceded arguments to Pigsteak (regarding the definition of trad), Dipsi (regarding blatant anti-Christian discussion) to Wes (about something, can't remember what). I am happy that I have these people as sounding boards and that they are willing to mix it up. I love them because they care enough to make the effort. While I do not share the faith of Dipsi and Trog (they are not in the same church either), their different brands of Christianity really do not rub me the wrong way 99% of the time. I get a lot out of these discussions. They modify my behavior. I feel closer to people I see at the crag. I feel that I know them and that they care. I enjoy discourse.

Art - at peace? - most of the time.

trog - sorry I can't entertain that thought experiment - its based on a book that I do not believe to be the word of any God. Scared, important historical document of ancient man's experience of their god(s) yes...but that's all.

So therefore - there is no absolute standard of prefection that I need to hold myself to.

not at all runt...my point was that clevis hitch was bemoaning these forums, but who is to say this is any better/worse than his suggestions...wiht no absolutes, it is all just a matter of one's opinions...

I found years ago that discussing religion on here is a vain endeavor.

I will say this: saying ALL of any one group of people behave in a certain way is an absolute statement that is rarely true.

We're all human, individual, and we all behave as such. None are perfect and no one is exactly like another. That is the beauty of humanity.

I AM a Christian and I see that most people (including most "Christians") do not truly understand Christianity.

I agree with the quote by Ghandi:

"Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

Most are not like Christ and are working far too hard for the wrong goals and in the wrong manner.

True Christianity is a flawless religion. TRUE Christianity. However, few pursue TRUE Christianity. Notice I did not say true Christians are flawless, the Scripture teaches otherwise.

Dear trog,

Thought experiments are one of my favorite things, but the bitch of them
is that they leave me answerless most of the time. I try to think too
logically with too little information, and we all have too little info.
People who have faith are lucky b/c they always have that single
answer to go back to and nothing else matters if they believe deeply
enough. Everyone else makes up their own things that matter or just
realize that nothing really matters at all. It all depends on your own
measuring stick and what it is that you are measuring. Luckily our brains
are better at drowning out details instead of constantly thinking or we
might just go insane.

You say God is "perfect" by definition. Well, that's pretty and maybe
even it's true, and I've even thought myself that way before, but what the
heck is that anyway? Wouldn't it be defined a little or a lot differently
for each and every person and thing, or is it limited to people thoughts
and just our very simple, constantly changing human language and ethical
standards? I see perfect describing all kinds of things other than God,
and I don't know what the heck it is. The perfect day for a lion is not
the perfect day for the zebra it just ate, but it does keep the world
moving perfectly the way it has evolved using what appears to be random
chance and circumstance.

Oh yeah, I've got issues with the one lifetime thing too. Seriously, I get a max of about 100 years out of a supposed eternity to decide my fate for the rest of it? That's a bum deal! I'm sorry, but a book isn't enough proof for me, and if there is a God I really hope he can understand that my simple brain won't accept that. Life and what I think of it is more proof, of which "the book" is a part, but again that just tells me it's a bum deal if I only get 100 years max to decide my fate for eternity. Then again don't none of us make the rules, we were all just born into them and have to play by them in any way we choose.

I'm going nowhere really with this, just wanted to chime in and write a bunch of stuff not many will read so caribe will grow closer to me. I need friends in Hell just in case that's where I end up! I plan to lead a revolt
against injustice if I end up in either Heaven or Hell! I figure if I wouldn't leave anyone hangin to suffer forever then certainly no God I would
hope to believe in would. If he would, then I would call him the devil anyway. No offense intended!
