I once named a route "Big Red Snapper" because a big red headed friend of mine broke his leg trying to get the FA. I thought it was funny.

I cleaned a route (not available to public) with a half inch wire brush that is used to clean the inside of copper pipe....... I called the route " a bigger wire brush" because I was muttering this the whole time i worked on the line.

Not in the Red but...

Lauren's Arete in the Black Canyon is named after the belayer that got hit by a loose rock on the first ascent.

Russian Arete also in the Black is named after Russian Roulette based on all the loose rock encountered on the route.
