I get it. You can't compete against other climbers so you level the playing field by beating climbers at life(assuming life is about making money). Nice. This is a tricky way to compete. Just out of curiousity. What if the climber climbs better, sprays, and has more status than you? Do you make the leap to other things like crocheting or cooking?

I might know who you are talking about. But I don't think it has anything to do with competition.

Dude, what do you want from me with all this ego stroking? Don't worry you can stay inside my house when it is too cold for you to sleep out back and shower with my hose. Or is this another one of your tricks to try to NOT let me TR stuff!

Luckily I have little pride.
efil lanrete... i enjoy the sound, but in truth i find this seductively backward idea to be quite frightening

I can't compete with pro athletes, correct. It's not about making money, I don't make that much actually. But definitely about taking care of yourself and not expecting others to do it for you.

hard climbing, no matter how you define it, is about stroking your ego. period.

otherwise, we'd all climb 3 grades easier and just enjoy the beauty...

Yeah, but spragwa, if you're a strong climber then people will think you're also a great person and the sheep that do have 401k's will help pay for your medical care.
