Progression

Post by Nick »

So after looking around I haven't found a thread already about this but i might have missed it. Interested in people's thoughts and opinions about the new flick.

After watching it last night I think that the video was really a step up from the Dosages and all the other climbing porn out there. It didn't have all the garbage where you have to listen to climbers talk about how Pure bouldering is or what it means to be a Player. It goes without saying that the filming was absolutely amazing. The way the camera continuously moved upward with the climber as they climbed some of the routes was really sweet compared to seeing a bunch of random clips from different angles that were put together.

Agree 100%. This is one of the more engaging climbing films I've watched to date. The close-ups on Sharma working the hand movements on his new stuff was cool. It was cool to hear Sharma discussing the mental aspects of working jumbo love, the pressure to send, and how at one point he wasn't sure he could do it. It's good to know that those at the top deal with the same things we all do while standing at the bottom of their projects.

It was awesome to see them go and crush the gritstone. The stuff that caldwell was working on at the end was ridiculous.

i loved the fact that the freaks of the industry HAVE to travel to other areas to get the prerequiste skills to send their projects in their own back yard.
Can't we all just get along?

Yeah, the gritstone segment was the best part. Offbeat and freakin hilarious, with bad ass climbing to boot.

The gritstone was awsome, the way the 3 of them had a lighthearted attitude towards the climbs that are notorious and are made out to be so dangerous(not saying they aren't) was cool. Matt Segal is a really funny guy and has the laugh of a lunatic.

Patxi Usiobaga is a training machine! Seeing Sharma's segment right next to his really showed how completely different their perspective on climbing is.

I could have done w/o the parts on competitive plastic pulling. The outdoor scenes of Sharma & Caldwell were amazing. Enjoyed the gritstone story too.

When Patxi says outdoor climbing is easy I think he means it. He rarely gets out from what I understand yet has sent 3 5.15s. There's something to be said about his training program. Not sure how long his body can keep up with that though.
