One of my goals yesterday became to find my way out of Mariba Fork. Holy fuck, they weren't kidding about that.

I had to leave earlier than the rest of my group and was walking out by myself. I paid attention to where I was going on the way in but still had trouble finding my way out. It looks totally different on the way out.

So after 15 minutes of backtracking and falling around in the dirt and basically panicking, I found my way out. Goal accomplished.
"But the motto was, never think you're that cool - you're still just climbing rocks...in the woods...with bugs...and everyone thinks you're crazy."

pigsteak-beautiful! a thread with commitment, how could i resist?

i thought awhile about which climb to choose. then, my biggest weakness took over-indecision, punching wastefully at boundaries hoping for unknown openings. excuses, so many limitations and obstacles-the drive and expense, how to pay bills (is everything downhill once you move out of your car?)--

i keep thinking back to Bill Ramsey. i should have tried the professional philosopher thing...driving is essentially working, right?..but for me, the biggest challenge is getting all the other crap out of the way to just go climb anything.

so, i'll continuing projecting my home, worry about the car repairs, run it out occasionally getting to the Red, and hope that rich woman comes along soon.
training is for people who care, i have a job.

Find one with a handicap thing hanging on her rear view mirror. You won't have to walk far.

I got on Dracula on Saturday....

1st go: I worked out all the moves, but damn are they hard...there's no way I'll link them all.

2nd go: proceeded to remove most the skin from my tips...didn't even get to the top so I couldn't work the super hard, super scary topout.

3rd go: wasn't feeling it all, but miraculously linked through the opening boulder problem and got to the big gaston move at the 4th bolt...BOOYA. My 3 and a half pitches for the day earned me enough points to win a t-shirt, mug and ATC-XP in the Clip and Go comp...how is that possible?

Sunday I was volunteering for R-fest.

Monday, day 2
1st go: Linked through the big gaston move, then mixed up my feet and fell shortly after. Pulled back on and hucked off the finishing moves, fell 35 feet or so, down to the 3rd bolt....not the longest fall I've ever taken, but maybe the closest I've come to hitting the ground.
2nd go: Got one move from the big rest before the last bolt...this rig is going down soon! I spent another 20 minutes dialing the finish and removing more skin.

We called it a weekend there, and headed home. Here's to "sending temps" next weekend. Good luck to all!

The wife said I was turning into a grumpy old man after I left a note on the window of someone who parked in a handicap spot, so I thought I'd try to be nicer. This was my first gesture. It does feel all nice and rosey...until Anti comes in and messes with it.
Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.

Man, I was flamed today and all I did yesterday was yard up a bunch of ropes, scramble through the briars and bolt a short sport route!

I am truly in awe of anyone who has ever picked up the drill.

But to stay on topic, I hope to send this weekend and get that thing open. Especially since my list continues to grow with routes I've yet to touch.

Thanks Pigsteak. And congrats on that new high point! Killer line to watch you climb.

Gneiss progress on Dracula, Mike! We'll have to hit that thing this weekend.

I was not at the Red this weekend, but I'm posting to the spray thread anyway. Went to the Gunks for C-day, and I sent a roof crack that I had not been able to do the previous spring. It felt really smooth, and I am hoping that this will mean I am strong enough for my projects here at the RRG!
