This Just In - New Clinic!!!

Post by Josephine »

We just found out we'll be offering a NEW CLINIC on 10/11 as part of Rocktoberfest

Leading at your Limit: Learn to read a route, conserve energy for onsighting. Learn physical techniques for falling safely and belaying a falling climber, as well as how to embrace the mental aspects of becoming comfortable leading at your limit. Prerequisite: the desire to push yourself further regardless of your current level of climbing.

This clinic will be taught by Alli Rainey & Kevin Wilkinson

This is the first time I have ever attended a climbing clinic and I was very impressed. Alli and Kevin were fabulous. Our group ended up being VERY diverse from climbers who were climbing 10s and 11s to participants who have only climbed two or three times ever.

I have to admit that I was nervous initially with the diversity of the group. I was so impressed at how Alli and Kevin were able to make the clinic relevant to everyone. They spent time on leading instruction, mental tips and technique advice for the more advance climbers in the group. For the newer climbers they focused on lead belaying, and just the basics of climbing.

They were very kind, patient and gave relevant advice to everyone in attendance.

After the clinic, I climbed some more, and already I was noticing improvements in both my climbing partner and me :D

Thank you to the instructors - Alli & Kevin; the helpers - Brent & Dave; and the organizers - Josie & team for putting this clinic together!!
