Rocktoberfest? Am I missing something?

Post by 512OW »

Ok... I was considering registering 3 people for Rocktoberfest. However, I can't find, after about 15 minutes of searching, a single scrap of detailed info about WHAT is going on during Rocktoberfest. I can locate the basics... and how to give money is easy to find... but I have no idea who is running what clinics, what films are showing, what bands are playing, who is sponsoring what, what the comp consists of, what the food will be, what vendors will be there.... blah, blah, blah.

I'm sure the info is out there... No, I HOPE the info is out there. Its kind of sad that I can't find it after searching.

Can someone please enlighten me as to why this affair is so secret? Every other event I've done and/or attended has a schedule up months in advance, on its own website thats easy to find. I'm confused.

Ok, after another 10 minute search, I've found what the clinics are... but not who is running them. I've found that there is a DJ.

Thing is, I could only find that on the registration page. I'd kind of like to know those things before I'm registering. It almost feels like someone trying to force me to spend money...

I agree, there should also be a picture of the shirt, examples of the prizes for comp winners- something that makes you say "That looks like fun!" or "I want that!"

We're admittedly a bit behind, LONG hours for some of us at the jobs that actually pay our bills. Of course excuses are not useful.

More info will be forthcoming in the next few days. Essentially similar rundown as last year with a few more tweaks we think everyone will be excited about........

Friday is Dyno Comp, DJ (Cletus), short films.
Saturday is clinics (not sure which athletes for each yet, still tying up those loose ends), Dinner, Dyno Comp, Reel Rock, a Band, a DJ.

I believe we'll have more onsite food options, the shirts are about to be finalized, we'll get a shuttle to run between the Shop and the venue, and we'll have the ability to take credit cards on site.

Thanks for your patience everyone, we hoped to be much further along at this point but such is life.

small correction. Saturday is a climbing comp. clinics are sunday and are as follows:

Elite Training: Are you stuck at 5.11 or 5.12 and looking to push it to the next level? Get training tips and techniques for elite-level climbing. Taught by Mike Doyle

Climb Like A Girl: Technique, tricks for weaklings, body position to help you cheat gravity, footwork, physical comprehension of the importance of balance and being relaxed. This is a must clinic for all the Neanderthal men out there. Taught by Audrey Sniezek

Intermediate Sport & Redpointing: Climbing is a never ending progression for each person. This clinic will explain the methods used to send a project. Areas covered will be: picking your project, setting goals on your project, how to stay psyched and follow through with your project. Taught by Emily Harrington

Intro to Trad Climbing: You will learn gear placement, how to rack, gear selection, tricks for resting, and movement. Taught by Katie Brown

Multipitch Efficiency: This is your chance to learn Muti-pitch systems with a focus on options for equipment, route finding, reading topos, belaying, safety, speed and rope management. Taught by Sonnie Trotter

Warrior's Way: Learn how to work with your body in movement, overcome your fears, trust your gear, and keep a cool head.. all in an afternoon. Taught by Arno Ilgner

Clinic locations are tentatively:
Solar Collector
Gallery
Playground
& global villiage

We are asking that if you are not in the clinics, that you consider other areas to climb on sunday. But we'd rather have you in the clinics  they should be pretty awesome this year!!!

Andrew, it seems after looking at your tick list that you may need some help on getting solid at 5.13 so i would suggest the elite climbing clinic.

then again, you might be too tall to use mike's training techniques
