NC bouldering near Laurel Knob?

Post by reason »

I'm going to be in NC very near Laurel Knob, and I'm wondering if anyone has been (or knows of) bouldering near there?

I'm going to have the family in tow, so even though I would love to go do some multi-pitch, this probably isn't the time. But I can sneak some time to boulder much more easily.

Thanks.

as far as i know there is no bouldering to speak of in the cashiers valley area with the exception of a few obscure problems here and there. also the approach into laurel knob is epic and would probably be more time consuming than you could handle on a family trip. If you can get away from the family for half a day or for the evening on a weekday when i get off work (5pm) then let me know, I could probably go climbing with you. I would not want to climb cashier's valley stone though because i hate slab and the death run-outs scare me. send me a pm if interested.

There is quite a bit of bouldering at Looking Glass, which is pretty close to Laurel Knob. I don't know if there's a guidebook, but you might find something online.
