Indian Creek road reopens in the Red River Gorge

WINCHESTER, Ky., September 22, 2009 – On Tuesday, September 22, the Indian Creek Road in Menifee County, Forest Service Road #9 in the Red River Gorge, will reopen to the public. The road was closed throughout much of the summer for construction.

Much of the construction involved replacing a bridge that was built in 1954. Over the years, this bridge had become deficient and unsafe for road maintenance equipment and other large vehicles. The new bridge will provide safe access for the public and support road maintenance and project activities in the area.

For more information, contact the Cumberland Ranger District office at 606-784-6428 or the Gladie Learning Center at (606) 663-8100.

Indian Creek Bridge Final Photos

We wrap-up our 3 month long observation
of the Indian Creek Bridge Construction with
our Final installment.
An 'extensive' look at the Bridge just hours
after its completion [17th] and then once more
days later [22nd] for its Last Inspection, Public
Opening & Crossing.

In order to complete this task we wanted to thank
some folks: [could not have done it without them]

There are 3 pages charting the progress of
the construction. From Final Form to Beginning:

Should've left the old one.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.
