Man, I seem to lose connectivity for about an hour or so every two days. I've called them about five times so far with the same issue and I get nowhere with them. I just straight up can't get an ip address. I know it's not my server because I try to get an ip with all three machines here with no success when it happens.

I'm thinking it may be the modem that's failing if they say it's not on their end. That would be the last point of failure for it to be me and not them.

I really don't want to give up my hardware to a host provider because I think most of my motivation comes from the fact that all of this hardware is right here in my home and I don't have to call some support dude if I want to compile some new feature into PHP or whatever.

Ray, I might have a modem for you - do you have a PCMCIA slot?

Thanks Lynne but I do have an extra DSL modem. It's just a matter of doing it late at night when nobody is online so i don't boot them off of the site here.

Nothing odd whatsoever. I'm running Snort with nazi rules so I would imagine if it were a Denial of Service or anything like that it would be picked up in the Snort log.

I installed the new modem so hopefully that solves it.

Jeffers, I knew your one and only post on this site would have to do something with computers. Why don't you give me a call and we can go climbing.
