Can you post your Mom somewhere, Toolshed? Oh wait, I posted your Mom.

Guessing I'm being set up, but if you are really interested, data is available for inspection off this forum. I'll stick my neck out a bit with this snippet:Horatio Felacio wrote:Have you really done compressive strength tests on Corbin sandstone? As you can guess, the compressive strength of our native rock down here varies from zilch for choss up to about 1500 psi for the "hard" stuff.
An "average" piece of RRG sandstone and an "average" piece of NRG sandstone were selected for testing by Mi-Tech Metals Laboratory on 7/10/07. The results are as follows:
NRG core sample: Yield Stress in compression - 4260 psi (29.4 MPa) 3450 Mpsi modulus
RRG core sample: Yield Stress in compression - 1036 psi (7.14 MPa) 474 Mpsi modulus
And, pkananen, those links you posted are to 2005 tests, which are ancient history. Much has been done since then, including new test instrumentation.

bump
Like most rrc.com threads, this one has gone a bit astray. So here's a bump.
May 9 - This Saturday
Dr. Michael Law, an Australian rock climber, route developer, and Materials and Engineering scientist will be giving a presentation next Saturday night at 8 PM at True North Inn in Pine Ridge. The subject will be climbing in Australia including recent bolt testing he has conducted in Aussie sandstone, similar to our Corbin sandstone.
This would be a good opportunity to check out the new True North Inn's menu offered by new owner, Jeff Columbo. And, enjoy Dr. Law's presentation afterwards.
If you know you will be coming for dinner, please call Jeff at 606-668-3745 and let him know so he will know how many to plan for.
