could you give me a single example at the red of a route that has been red tagged for???ever???? and the equipper refused to let others on it?
that route at shady grove with the rope still hanging as of i want to say at least 5 years..?? maybe four just to be safe. the owner is out on a regular basis but the rope continues to hang. at this point it is garbage like any other piece of tat and should be cut free and thrown away.

also the "galaxy" at drive-by. that will soon be on the list as well unless.....

the only thing i think i have been an un-fan about is the red FLAGS signaling that at some point someone wants to bolt it. that is kinda lame and claim jumping should be allowed. its like when you don't hit on a girl because your buddy is psyched on her but won't get the balls up to ask her out but she REALLY wants you instead.

How about the new route at Roadside? Is someone really bolting that? Anyone know who's doing it?

I ran into a guy named Mike who posts here as truthmiracle at Roadside a few months ago and I believe he was bolting something there, past the musical route slab.

This is right of Sand. It may end up being Sand II.

Yep, same dude... Mike something. Andrew and I were there a few months back when he started. The route looks intersting. He's older, probably mid forties. I think someone said he was one of Capn's friends.

Too bad JB Weld Chosspile is already in use...

pig,
what I meant was an equipper putting up a route and having an undefined time to finish it, such as over a year, which seems like it's getting into the ridiculous stage by then at a public area. I'm not sure what that time should be, 1 year seems fair.

I agree lateralus.... a year is very fair, unless there are special circumstances.

and anit, I 100% agree..those ropes should be cut. who is bolting that route at shady? shannon?

I still think red tagging is lame. I was repulsed by the whole concept the first time I learned what it was.

Now I think it is reasonable for somebody to tag a route for a week or two, but much more than that seems ridiculous to me.

Also, a good solution to the problem: if you think that it shouldn't matter who gets the FA, then just climb the route and don't tell anybody. Problem solved (unless of course you get stabbed).
