lateralus,

could you give me a single example at the red of a route that has been red tagged for???ever???? and the equipper refused to let others on it?

if non equippers feel entitled to get on that single closed route at a crag, then go ahead, but don't spray about it. you'll just look like an ungrateful low life taker. how about offering cash for the hardware if you MUST climb on a route?

Is this really up for debate again? The equipper has all rights, period. There are always gray areas, like time, ability...whatever, bottom line, talk to the guy who put it up, they are probably not complete dicks. And if they are, poach that shit man cus your awesome and they should know that.

You have 2 choices. Do the line on gear, or poach it.

agreed.

and since when did a reg tag prevent the climbing of a route? you can still get on it--maybe even send it. nobody's business but your own.

Ha! Obviously the process of rappelling down the line for twenty minutes and chalking up all plausible holds is too much to comprehend for my petite brain...

Yeah, I thought of the princess bride to. Somehow the word "clearly" brings it all back.
