Jackson Falls, IL- sick sport, lots o' bouldering, beautiful setting, and amazingly cordial rednecks. After that, you're pretty much screwed until you hit the Rockies...

theres also drapers bluff in so. ill if you're into nice trad and mixed lines, a few good tall boulder problems but nothing like jackson falls. I think theres a good so. Ill boulder guide on some free topo website. Or the guidebook by Eric Ulner, vertical heartland.

If you end up going up I-70 through Missouri and Kansas on your way to colorado, you could always stop here: http://www.spadout.com/wiki/index.php/R ... Bouldering , never been there, though it looks a little lame, but trust me, if you're on your way through kansas, anything not flat is a godsend.

Oh yeah, I guess there is the whole Arkansas thing- I guess I was thinking of Kansas when I wrote that...

having just done the ky to az thing recently, i worked it like this:

day 1 - drive to horseshoe canyon ranch. it's a bit out of the way, but it's mostly worth it.
day 2 - drive to texarkana; sleep in sketchy ass hotel.
day 3 - drive to midland, tx; sleep in sketchy wal-mart parking lot.
day 4 - hueco; it's too hot to climb hard, so you can sit around and explain how you woulda pulled terremer if "the temps wernt so harsh brah".
day 5 - tucson; i have a project at silverbell. you should go do it.
haunted.

rockcity in salina KS is DOPE!! not only can you rock climb in KS but they boulders are really cool and an anomoly for sure. no need for a pad as all the landings are flat and soft. good place to spend an hour or two for lunch and a leg stretch.

I agree with anticlimber. It's worth checking out rock city just to break up kansas and see a bunch of spherical boulders. Not far out of the way at all.
