If you're going to make any kind of drive at all then just go to the red. There's plenty of really easy stuff to be found, try practice wall in Muir Valley.

I don't know much about details for western kentucky climbing but here are some areas: Pilot Rock, Dismal Rock, Pennyrile State Forest, Clifty Hollow...I know there are more areas and there are people who know more about them than me.

Ignore ignorant responses which just state "Go to the Red." Only you know what your needs are and if Bowling Green works for you then just do what you got to do.

I lived 10 minutes from the Red most of my life, and when I first started climbing and asked "local" climbers what were good beginner routes the most common response I got was: "Go to the New". That's just idiocy at work.

Tap into the Western KY climbing scene and I am sure there are folks that'll help you find your way around.

There is some climbing near (or over) the TN state line south of Hopkinsville. Clarksville Bluffs? Something like that. Went looking for it once but couldn't find the area. Have never been back to Hop-town.

I'm sure you can find a mall nearby that has some steps, or maybe an escalator. If they can send that, try putting them on a ladder.

kings bluff, a little over an hour from BG. dixie cragger has it in it. but you do not need a guide book to climb there. all the climbs are marked

not much in the way of toproping though at kings, lots of easy short(around 3 bolt) 5.7's and 8's though.

thats what the guy posted he said he was looking for, personally i thought a lot of the leads were pretty easy, and this was when i was first starting, so i would say just go for it.
