Strange question, but over the last six months or so there have been some threads dealing with guns and gun ownership. From these, and searching for other posts about (hand)guns, I was surprised at the number of people here that own and even carry handguns. More recently I was having a conversation with a long-time Red climber who was telling stories (perhaps embellished) about some of the 'issues' climbers have had from locals over the years. This got me thinking: for those of you who own handguns, have you ever thought about carrying while in the Red, or do you? I know that some people don't like to disclose this sort of info, but I thought I would ask anyway.
Oh, and I hope this doesn't turn into a anti/pro gun debate or anything like that. I'm just curious.
Takes up too much pack room, weighs too much, and too little opportunity. Besides drunken idiots in the woods looking for trouble are too stupid to look down from the top of the cliff. I'm more worried about catching a discarded beer bottle to the head.
There are more than a couple of people who carry guns and those are just the ones who have pulled them out in public. I would imagine there are several more who never tell a soul.
The theory of evolution is just as stupid as the theories of gravity and electromagnetism.

i wouldn't carry a gun around with me for protection unless I knew someone was after me, but i think I'm gonna start taking some kind of gun with me when I'm sleeping in the woods cause some times I get scared of all the scary monsters out there in the woods.
