My philosophy is to "Always consider the source" when being told something. If someone matters to me, I take what they say much more seriously. If they don't matter to me then I say thank you very much and continue doing what I want.
The important thing for me is that I am making the time to spend with my sons which is a lot more than many can say. They are missing out on the blessing of that time spent with their kids.
Josh, congrats on the twins. It thrills me to see my youngest get his red point on a route he's been working.

I started climbing when I was 16 years old and now 32 years later I am still at it and I wouldn't consider my parents to be irresponsible for letting me climb (and I don't think they would either). My mom's approach was that she just never wanted to hear about it. My dad hiked up to lunch ledge at Seneca one time to check out what me & my brother were into.
Many of us UC Mtnring Club alums idolize Fred Beckey as a role model and dream of still climbing 5.10 and doing FA's into our 70's. The two deaths of RRG climbers that have hit very close to home for me were deaths by suicide.
