Climbing in the gym is not fun for me... because, well, it isn't climbing. Socializing in the gym is not fun for me, because well, why would I want to hang out with a bunch of people who think they're training when they arent'? Training in the gym... now that is fun. Pure fun.
And piggie, I can't think of a word other than pathetic... sorry.

agreed - training in the gym is the business. it's actually one of my favorite mini-games within climbing; setting goals, seeing progress, accomplishing said goals, rinse, repeat.
of course, i have been known to set project cruxes and try to hammer out the engrams at home, but 9 times out of 10 it turns out i send the real rig way before my indoor mock-up goes.
I like climbing in the gym but it reallly just does not "do it" for me. Climbing is too much involved with nature for me to get stoked about climbing indoors. But still I can have a blast but I hardly call what I do "training", I'm lame
I go to the gym to get paid, and I guess climb...I've always been told that the way to train for climbing was to climb, so it's both training and climbing. Wait, no, it's training...i'm confused.
