Thanks Krampus & Brentucky for stepping up. Having one more solid person in the morning would be nice. If anyone would want to do a half day in the morning or afternoon that would work. I will have some of the RRGCC's hand tools available for the small stuff. When you get to the Martins Fork parking lot just start to head up the trail and listen for chainsaws to find us. Also, come dressed in appropriate work clothes and footwear.

8 am.
But if you are a little late just start heading up the trail and listen for saws. Also forgot to mention there will be nothing organized happening on Sunday but if you want to head out on your own with hand tools have at it. I will try to post back with an update Sat. evening.
Also the Indian Creek is closed. Fore the latest info on raod and trail conditions in RRG visit: http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/boone/09icestorm.shtml

Mucho thanks to krampus, Brentucky, their friend Grant, and Jack Dickey for sacrificing part of a climbing day to help the Forest Service with tree removal as "swampers". Luckily it didn't rain like predicted and we had decent weather. We worked with Aaron Miller of the DBNF plus sawziers Rusty and Ryan who were on loan from the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forest in CO. We split into two saw teams of four and knocked out the trails to Military and Left Flank in short order. We then headed up along Martins Fork clearing Rough Trail up to Tunnel Ridge Road and the Daniel Boone Hut Trail. A lot of the damage from the storm was large trees that had uprooted creating some very gnarly snags. We were fortunate to have pros with good saws working with us!

The Forest Service has a trail status map up on their website to show what has been cleared after the ice storm. The trail to Pebble Beach does not show as being cleared. Has anyone been up to Pebble Beach since the storm? If anyone has been up there or does go up there please get back with me on whether the trail is blocked or not.
