Military / Left Flank / Rough Trail Tree Cleanup

Post by captain static »

Who would be willing and able to work with the Forest Service contractor this weekend, Saturday 2/14 and possibly Sunday 2/15, 2009? We are being offered an opportunity to get this done now. After the contracted chainsaw crews leave at the end of the weekend, our ranger district only has three employees certified to do chainsaw work. The downed trees are not going to move out of the trails by themselves. I will be talking to the Forest Service tomorrow to finalize details. To make this happen, a solid committment of volunteers is needed.

Wish I could be there but living in PA makes the trips to the gorge difficult.

I'm sure there will be more work to do Sunday. I will let everyone know details tomorrow. That is if I can round up enough people to make the whole thing worthwhile.

The Forest Service contractor will start at 8am. It would be good if several people could show up then to help carry tools & supplies. If more people wanted to show up later we could direct them to the work area. For those of you who might not know the Military and Left Flank trails were built with grants from the Access Fund and RRGCC labor. These are "our" trails and it is our responsibility to maintain them.

I would be able to help out Sunday.
Sand inhibits the production of toughtosterone, so get it out and send.
