We try to use the cloth ones when we can, but the plastic ones make nice trashbags as well. Reduce, *reuse*, and recycle...

Empty the trash out of the bag into the can and reuse the bag. Unless it gets stinky.. who wants a stinky bag in their kitchen.

Carry my Trader Joe's bags into about any store now these days. Some give me a shitty look, others just don't care and proceed as the automatons they are.

I've had the same experience, chester. It's a little heartbreaking. Now, when I'm in that situation (where they bag something before I can tell them not to), I ask, "If I don't take that bag, are you going to throw it away or use it for the next customer?" It prolongs the interaction with the cashier, which usually confuses and annoys them a little, but alas.

We always take our own bags to the grocery store - I'm glad the revolution is catching on.

Our cashiers are so cool here in MT. Really, nobody will ever try to force you to take a plastic bag. Just don't move out here for the cheery help. It gets real cold in the wintertime. Tell 'em DMW.

I use the plastic bags from stores to wrap wet paint brushes to keep them from drying out. I do get funny looks at the drive through when I hand them back the paper bag my breakfast sandwich came in.

Wow woodchuck, the poor employeed people are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

They should quit and get on the government's paycheck.

When i go into a store i try to use my pockets as much as possible. Saves money and bags.

this thread makes me happy, unlike a couple times i walked out of a grocery store literally pissed and cursing under my breath after a bagger-lady didn't do what i asked. i usually am laughing at my anger by the time i am at my truck though. sometimes i feel like a stranger in a strange land. :|
efil lanrete... i enjoy the sound, but in truth i find this seductively backward idea to be quite frightening
