you would equate reinforcing a line for safety and longevity with drilling dozens of holes and generating holds?

that's not even apples and oranges.

yes. it is all environmental destruction. is that really that hard to understand? by epoxying a hold, are you not also creating a hold that nature wishes to remove?

classic implies more than just good movement. it entails good movement on a clean aesthetic line with some history behind it. instant classics are a rarity and almost never involve glue.

"classics are about movement" bullshit.....gym routes and eliminates can have amazing movement, but can never be classic

WTF, Glue? If you or anybody cant climb it as it is, move on! there are way too many chunks of unclimbed rock out there to do somthing as lame as glue on holds.....

while i don't agree with the definition of classic from our intrepid developer, there is a time and place for glue. it's all over the red and i've got no beef with it. you probably have climbed on it driskel and didn't even know it.

pig person:

reinforcement might be comparable to bolting (which is apparently okay), but is in no way similar to grid bolting or chipping. that's like saying m80's are essentially the same as nukes because they both blow up. hyperbole anyone?

"are you not also creating a hold that nature wishes to remove?"

dood. nature doesn't have a mandate. it doesn't have ambition. it isn't sending it's girlfriend a valentine. in other words, it's doesn't wish.

nature doesn't want me to do or not do anything. don't let your inconsistent ethical imperatives speak for something that doesn't have a mouth.

stix:

yeah i agree. i loosely used the word classic. you can get a bit myopic when you're way into a problem/route. in that case, today's classic is tomorrow's rubbish. but the start flake i'm reinforcing (right in nature's face!) really does lead to some good climbing - 2/3 star maybe? i dunno.

drikell:

lol. what's really lame is that you care about glue under a flake that you'll never see. also, i fail to see how quantity of rock translates into some sort of 'move on!' ethos. does this mean that in 'low rock zones' it's okay to glue on holds (which i'm not even doing)? i find all these rules - like, um - super confusing.

if someone could forward me the rockclimbing manual that'd be swell,

first: cuddled on the couch never the bed, that would be gay.

m80s an nukes ARE the same in that they both explode.

nature want's you to evolve. how it is.

if the rules are confusing make sure you have an adult to supervise your arts and crafts please.

also, no insecurities about math but i do know how to whip up some epoxy.
just a problem with your lack of manners.

you never said "please."

dont get caught huffin glue under an overpass, big fines.

1) could be a foldout couch. slippery slope.
2) they ARE the same in that they explode but are NOT the same because they explode. scale dude, scale.
3) i thought it was god that wanted me to evolve...
4) not sure how crayons, safety scissors, and construction paper can get a confused guy hurt... but okay, i'll bite: how?
5) please.
6) huffin glue under the overpass is sketchy. just drive and huff. it's safe and funny.

just in case someone reads this in the future in hopes they might learn something about epoxy:

sikadur crack fix seems like the champ.
hilti also makes a range of usable products.

Buddy, don't let piggy get to ya he's an old grouch that's really bored :)

Oh ya and god (lack there of) has nothing to do with the way the rock EVOLVES
