Trails and trees

Post by Jeff »

Where did you climb this weekend, and how were the trails?
Trying to get an idea of what areas need chainsaw work.
Thinking primarily of the PMRP only because I'm not sure what is allowed to be done on forest service land.

several large trees uprooted the trail to fortress, the rest could be gotten with a hand saw, but a chain saw would knock out everything but the giant trees in about 30 minutes.

i cleared the solar/ gold coast wall with my chain saw. A lot of trees were down on the trail but its all good now. it would be a good idea to bring your chain saw with you climbing so these trails get cleaned up fast....if you have a saw

I"m guessing a nice sturdy big wall bag will be the perfect carrying case for a big chainsaw. Just don't let oil get on your ropes.!

a chainsaw is needed on the path to crossroads. several trees down there but nothing too terrible that you can't hike around it. just would be better if someone could saw through a few. :-)

the trail up to drive by was in good shape.

715 is passible but there's tons of debris on both sides of it still. The trail up to Tower was fine.

Roadside was fine. Military needs a lot of work (though it is forest service) - Paul got a few pics with his phone.

Dear piggie: also, I sent.

a bow saw is very effective on down trees- way less expensive than a chain saw and a fraction of the weight
