Nod. I had a day or two this summer where I thought "I can see what people mean about the friction when it's hot ".Andrew wrote:I climb all summer and it really doesn't bother me. All my hardest send have been in the summer.
But usually the heat doesn't bother me, and by summer I am typically in my best shape.
ok, lets face it, the red is climable in the summer right? but there is the real point. climable does not equal good. especially fly around the world and hit it up on a road trip good. we are talking an average in the upper 80's to 90's and humidity that is bad. sure you can get a few early pitches before the heat and a few afterwards but a summer road trip to the red? seriously. Dont fool someone into thinking that they should fly around the world to hit the red up in that season.
Make up your own mind.

It's also very dependent on what grade you climb. The OP asked for "beautiful sport routes, boulders, and trad"... 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Not much bouldering here, but for folks who don't go on a weekly basis like we do (i.e. be picky about when we go), a trip in July can be enjoyable. I can't think of anything I've been on (sans Lips Service) that is under 5.12 and friction dependent.
