Potential FA at Roadside...??

Post by Yasmeen »

Does anyone know if the crack in the dihedral to the left of Up Yonder (and to the right of Wild Gift) has been done yet? It would finish on the anchors of Up Yonder (not Way Up Yonder). Loren lead it a few days ago and I followed it, and we were wondering who else has been on it. We were skeptical that there would be any FA's left at Roadside, especially on a crack that is so visible to everyone walking by, but it's not in Johnny's guidebook nor is it in the online guide, so I figured I'd see if anyone knows anything about it.

I've boogied over to that corner to gain a rest after the crux several times. Finished up on the corner before too. Never seen anybody plug gear on that thing though.
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

Yeah he sewed it up-- 9 or 10 pieces I think, but it was a cool little climb. Burly too. Not often that you use chimney technique in a dihedral.

that may be a good thing to ask T-bone. I'm sure he knows if its been done. I would assume yes, since its so obvious.

It felt about 5.9 to me, though I'd have to do it again to be sure. It doesn't take good gear at all though. The rock is kind of shit and most placements I could find seemed questionable.

If it hasn't been done, I promise to take those names under suggestion Joe.

How do you climb on something when your placements..... "seemed questionable".
If I placed something and I didn't think it would hold a truck.I'd shit my pants, and fall.....screaming.....to my death.....into the valley belooooooooooow!!
