Yeah, Alpinist's writing addressed adults.

Here's an interesting article that reveals some of the history.

I love that mag.... I know their warehouse with all their back issues burned down recently, so if you own any of the mags, keep them, they will be worth something. It sucks, bc they were just here for the Alpinist film fest and didn't let on at all. Very sad indeed.

Tried to access some archives today and it looks like they took the site down....was hoping they would find a way to at least keep all the old resources online even if it wasn't updated.

Wow, only 71k.

$71k for the Alpinist...and I thought GM stock was cheap!

But I would be curious to see if they could ever make it profitible. I loved the pictures, but never bought one.

Most agree it was a unique, well developed magazine. In the end I just don't think it was relevant to the vast majority of "climbers". I've done lots of trad and ice cragging - and I couldn't relate to much in this magazine. Their focus is bold, hard, remote alpine ascents. Really cool stuff....but I don't see many of us paying $15 for it.
I've been a gumby longer than you've been climbing.

the overhead with paper and color ink quality alone must have been staggering. agree it was priced waay out of the typical climbers cash flow, but it did have some really great writings in the past. If buyers keep it afloat, I would imagine we could expect to see some of the frills cut. I'd be happy to read great stories on cheaper paper and ink.
