sorry if I'm revisiting this topic...I'm going to buy a new rope and only have experience primarily with one rope from Beal and Sterling.
Just wondering what my next rope brand should be and why. I'm leaning towards bluewater or edelweiss maybe....
unless you can convince me otherwise...
If you choose other, please specify - there are too many brands to name
thanks!
Which brand of rope do you prefer?

i agree that bluewater ropes seem to get stiff
i would say don't buy a petzl--had one fray horribly on the first fall...very dangerous
mammut all the way!
my mammut has just seen its very first indication of sheath fray--and this is after more than three years of frequent (3 days a week avg) use at the gyms and crags. other than that it is still in great condition, feeds smoothly, no kinks or anything at all.
im passing up 30% off wholesale on sterling to buy a mammut at full price. but... i've never owned a sterling....
