Till it got stole out of the back of my truck I really dug my squid. Josephine is right about its capabilities and its threaded so its not coming off the stick.

Damnit rrgclimber, don't be a cliche. The stickclip debate has been long dead, just like prehung draws. If thats what people want to do than thats what they're gonna do, why do you give half a shit. Carry on.

Super clip. Does all of the above, and can't break. Nuff said.

ReachHigh, that's awful! :-(

FujManiac, it's not too late. they still make the squid and you can still get your very own. :-D

t go old school and find an actual climber to apprentice. then you will not need to buy too many gadgets, but have a toolbox of knowledge. this is how is done.

it attaches to any painter's pole and it never falls off.

it clips - regardless of whether or not the draw is already on it.

it also UNCLIPS. a very handy feature indeed when i accidentally stick clip the 1st bolt of the wrong route
except for the fact that the squid is made of plastic, which breaks, and the overlooked 'moving arm' which loosens over time and renders the Squid nearly unusable...

go with a 1" clamp from the hardware store (avoid the 3" clamps) or the aforementioned superclip. both of these do what a squid can, but are made of metal and have less moving/breakable parts.

I've seen people put a small stick in the clamp to keep it open about 1/2". Not in the tip of the clamp, but towards the base. Then you can push that 1/2" opening onto the gate of the biner and twist to open the gate. Push up and the quickdraw will fall out. This is all based on a clamp that is stiff enough to let you do the twisting and pushing action. Most are though.

Somehow I think my words will be twisted by days end.
