sorry if ths is redundant.....when we speak of donations, is this stuff like clothes, coats, shoes, etc, or are we shooting for non-perishable goods?

yep, exactly.

clothing
coats
shoes
non-perishable foods

all those are awesome. i remember last year sister amy said they were low on peanut butter, of all things. if we get the chance, we'll ring up the centers and see if there's anything in particular they could use..

saturday around dark, 6/6:30pm. see you all there..

i used to work at a bakery.. loved the "day olds". ;)

time: say 6:30pm or so, should be a few people there by then. the donations will go directly to centers in the area. in the past, we've taken them to a church in beattyville.. the name of which escapes me right now. this year we were going to try to focus a little more on the slade/stanton area. i'll try to get you more details in a bit..

How bout it's open on Sunday (looks like the better day weather wise) to those who show on Saturday ... there are people renting the cabins so I will ask that folks try to car pool on Sunday to reduce parking stresses. Paul has made a valiant effort to help those less fortunate and he deserves all the support we can give him. Participation would also fall under the category of "enlightened self-interest" as a local population well disposed to climbers in general is more likely to be well disposed to you when you propose climbing access to their property.

So, nothing against Stanton, but if we are not only helping locals, but also establishing some type of relationship with them, wouldn't it be in our interest to focus on Slade and Lee County as there are more climbing opportunities there than around Stanton?

In the past we have given to the main food/clothing bank of the area. That food bank then helps distribute to other local banks as the needs arise. Depending on the turn out and donations gathered this year we were wanting to give to some local churches that focus on the smaller communities they are in. Either way we go are able to go this year we will make sure the whole area is helped and not focus on just one.

Roads are great and the snow looks so amazing. Hope to see you this weekend.
