Against principle I voted for McCain.
One party government = lots of power with no challenge = we keep heading down the path to the police state.

checks and balances may be something we wished we had when we find out what he would have done if he hadn't voted present: but for the nation and the world it is a great day for the Red climbing community it is a horrific day due to other circumstances

Huggybone, good governments pass good legislation, bad governments pass bad legislation. Party is really immaterial.

You have one party congress/executive branches to thank for New Deal, WPA, and formation of Social Security under FDR. One party government also passed the Civil Rights Bill and created Medicare in the 60's under LBJ.

So, that's really a red herring when there are just as many successes and failures under one party government as there are under 2 party government.

I'm just hoping the President Elect and congress is gunshy enough to not rush into decisions like some administrations. It's taken the Cheney regime 6 years to realize their mistakes and change paths to a more pragmatic and less ideological administration. Sadly, it's a day late and a dollar short.
