These results don't make sense to me.
If you answered "training" isn't it really because you can't get out to real rock? Would you really rather train indoors then on the real thing if you had a choice? If it was just as easy to get on your project after work as it was to go inside a gym would you really choose the gym?
I am guessing that around 95% of all climbers who are climbing at thier limit and improving at that grade are doing so because of climbing gyms/walls/etc.
andrew is just pissed because 85% of his climbing is on plastic in a sterile environment. and the only people who care about his ape index are the girl scouts at the gym on a birthday party outing.
I am sorry you have to, no chose to, live so far from REAL rock.
CT Cinci is far from sterile... You can get 6 different kinds of staph infection on a daily basis. That, and every dude that walks out of the bathroom still has chalk on his hands. I train at home.
My favorite part of climbing at the red... is when I crush piggies projects even though I don't ever get out or train, because I am to busy making babies, teaching, and coaching.
You better hope I never start training or getting to the red on a consistent basis.
