Oh my goodlordy goddamn! Biden!!!
What are you talkin about Danny? He said he'd do everything but diaper the baby, and I believe! Obama's going to do it all. He's going to negotiate the mullahs out of the bomb, provide healthcare for my dog and put an end to war, death and destruction. And that's just on his days off. Wait 'till you see what he does during the week. I bet he's even got a plan to end the heartbreak of psoriasis. Don't ask him how he'll do all this, that's top secret, but he's going to do it. Hint - It's a little something he learned in his 147 days in the senate. Just tell your friends to repeat this refrain, "Yes I believe in the hopey changeness" and pull the lever.
"Daytime talk show diva and billionaire businesswoman Oprah Winfrey, who played a crucial early primary role in raising the prominence of her fellow Chicagoan Barack Obama, was so moved by her man's Democratic acceptance speech Thursday night that she cried off her false eyelashes."
Now there's someone who's appropriately impressed.

True, I am writing on a computer, that was made by a company... but my post never said I wanted big business out of the world forever. My problem is simply in letting big business run a nation. All I really want is a country run by the people and not by special interests, by whoever can pay enough to get their issue heard. I think Hillary is a tool, as is John McCain. Not saying Obama is a saint, but at least he asked that the DNC not accept money from lobbyists. A step in the right direction.
Oh, I'm sorry, does that same big business pay your salary too? Then perhaps we shouldn't even be having this conversation.

charlie,
that is comparing applesd and oranges. the comment was about big business in general, the way folks like to use the word as a perjorative. it said nothing about American outsourcing of our jobs. With that, you and I agree.
I say keep BIG business in America. But maybe this is the wake up call America needed. I do agree with McCain on that point. America has become a country of whiners. let's see if we turn this around to our advantage.

Positive vibes brah...positive vibes.
actually no, it doesn't. I work for a locally owned business, that generates revenue locally.kdunbar wrote:True, I am writing on a computer, that was made by a company... but my post never said I wanted big business out of the world forever. And you think Obama has no special interests to pander to? You think the NAACP isn't salivating over this? You think Unions don't wet themselves over this?

Kipp that is stupid. Black president therefore a tool of the NAACP, ridiculous. This is a stupid reason to practice racism. A white president can be everyone's president, so can a black president.pigsteak wrote: And you think Obama has no special interests to pander to? You think the NAACP isn't salivating over this? Sorry pigsteak, second part of that post was for the honorable Mr. Day.
Obama's speech was a bit disappointing. When compared to Warner's, Biden's, or both of the Clinton's it fell a bit short. But then, that could have been calculated. He may have downplayed the significance of the "I Have A Dream" historical reference and presented himself more as a president for all people. Instead of an inspirational speech it was a political speech, atypical for convention but still serving it's purpose. He hit on all my points though...... Supreme Court Appointments, bi-partisan cooperation and marginalization of hot issues like Gun Control and Abortion.
I am a fan though, and have seen nothing even close coming from the McCain camp (and yes I have been watching). We'll see next week though.
