red river gorge in July

Hello locals,

is it too hot to climb in RRG in july? are there some sectors in the shade.

its never TOO hot to climb but it might be pretty uncomfortable. really it depends on the weather/year. last year was pretty manageable for the first half of july. if you want nice weather though, july is probably not a good bet.
Sand inhibits the production of toughtosterone, so get it out and send.

Went out last weekend and it was buggy. It was hot and humid. Still had a great time.

Definitely have some bug spray with you.

Really it depends on your sending level and goals.

If you're lookin for your hardest sends, July isn't your best bet. Humidity is not your friend.

If you wanna climb a bizillion good moderates, its perfect, because most of the sport climbers have retired for the season.

although i did do my hardest onsight 2 weeks ago - but my "hard" is everyone else's moderate :wink:

My first day out was at the Roadside gumby wall in Mid July, sun a blazin', I didn't know better then but now I'd probably bitch about the sweat bees and greasy holds :D
The only escape is up.

Its July 1st, and I can't think of a better day to be climbing. Temps are perfect.
