Just 6 as long as you only count the dogs.

Damn - beat me to BOTH issues! If your dog is fast, it may not have enough time between the warning and the shock to stop and figure out how to not get stuck outside the perimeter. (This is a big issue for racing dogs like Greyhounds and Whippets, but other fast running (and not so bright/bull-headed) dogs can do this.) This can make the "fence" worse than useless..

That happened with my brother's dog.

Bailey is already in a tall fence, but she clears it. She dynos to the top horizontal bar, does a wicked mantle move and then tops out the problem.

when we got our danes, they did not permit electric fences because so many of their rescued dogs had come because the got out of the electric-fenced yard. i've also heard of dogs that would stand close enough to the fence to set off the warning buzzer and literally wait until the battery dies. not all dogs are dumb.

when SUVs lost their luster people traded em in... that seems to be the KY option for animals and children as well, good luck as I've been fortunate to be blessed with a lovely well behaved sweet pea named Sage

IMO electric dog fences are cruel and are only warranted when you have thoroughly exhausted all other options.

Just my 2 cents, I haven't owned a dog since I was a kid. Yet I remember that dog never left the yard, she "knew" better.

yeah, take rhunt's advice. beat your dog so he "knows better", but don't get that stupid electric fence.
