if your going right its one thing, but to willfully slow down traffic by forceing cars to drive at you pace until they can pass you again only to have you get in front of them at the next stop light might get some shit thrown at you. Especially when you are breaking the law to do so. If your argument is that you have a right to the road, then you should also follow the rules of the road.
With traffic means with the flow of traffic, if traffic is stopped then so should you be. Just because you are in a slower moving vehicle doesn't mean you are entitled to the front of the pack. And if you don't want to get creamed at an intersection then you should not be blowing through stoplights.

In some cities the laws for cyclist say to treat red lights like stop signs and stop signs like yield signs.

Maybe I'm in the minority of cyclists but I stop for most red lights and try to obey traffic laws as much as is practical to insure my safety. I think it's important for cyclists to attempt to earn the respect of the motorists around them. That said I split lanes in traffic and always ride to the front before stopping like a good boy. I really enjoy being able to stay right in the pack with the traffic- makes people feel dumb for paying 3.75 a gal when I'm cruising alongside them for free. Gotta save that gas $$ for the Red!
The only escape is up.

Myke Dronez, me too.

Follow the laws like you're a motorcycle and not only do you make yourself predictable to cars, you get respect for following the rules. I like riding bikes and Lex has become a lot more bike friendly lately.

i didn't run the light krampus, it was green.
i stop at reds and stop signs and i've been trying to be good about not skipping ahead. on a busy friday night on bardstown road, i ain't sitting in traffic.

hell i've almost hit more bikers who are running the lights than anything else outthere. usually call them out while i'm at it.

I am with you Myke, Charlie, and anti. I follow the rules and recently quit riding up to the front, but I see people do it all the time and it gets pretty annoying, because they will argue their right to the road but neglect the traffic laws if it fits them. As far as bardstown road goes, I won't even drive on that road, much less bike. But if I do, I break the law and ride the sidewalk.

it is your responsibility as a biker to piss off and wreak havoc to every motorist out there. be willing to eat a fender or two and exchange some pleasentries with them and everyone will have a good time.

I do stop at red lights, stop signs, etc. (most of the time), but when I am riding my bike home at rush hour, I will pass the long line of line of cars sitting in traffic. I do try to use good judgement though... if I see that the light is going to be turning and the same cars I am passing will be passing me a few seconds later then I will stop.
