Just wondering if anyone has gone to the trouble of pulling some of the ancient hardware off of some of the lesser done slabs in the predominantly trad areas. I wish I could remember the names of the routes. My partners were not willing to participate in a ropeless struggle and if there wasn't bolts it would be an easier solo excursion. What, if anything, would local ethics say about removing them if anchors and all were so loose they could be removed by hand without mechanical advantage. I don't remember any being over 30' and I might be a little disappointed if they were rebolted due to my asking after them. Sorry I can't offer the route names.
I did not mean it as an insult. I was very interested in doing something other than overhung sport and dealing with overcrowding during rocktoberfest but my partners were not into it. I spent the better part of an hour discussing the large number of rarely done routes in the Red at the base of one of these slabs. They were polite and pointed out the fact that the bolts were not trustworthy. No offense but local internet ethics must be to bitch since everyone I've met in the flesh was sincere. I'll just man up and do it. I would find sliding into a bolt and taking a header into the ground unfortunate but I can deal. Danny, it was about thirty feet of mid angle slab with 4-5 bolts thin as a quarter. I don't mess around with others labor of love, just asking is all.
