Thanks, guys. You are all very welcome. I love this place more than you know. I have gotten so much from my time climbing at the Red, it is all worth the grief and the effort to try and leave something behind for others to enjoy, as we have enjoyed it. This is a really good community of climbers, but we could be better. We have the best climbing in the world in our own backyard, now we need to “ask the BEST of ourselves,” to protect it. Climbing this good will not be protected by half-hearted efforts and good intentions. Jeff, is right to be worried. But he is dead wrong to under estimate us.

Allow me to share the email from Brad McLeod, the man behind the SECC and the Boat Rock purchase, less than two hours (his was the second email I received; the first email was from Lance Brock, President of the SECC) after I sent out the RRGCC announcement about the new web site:

“Congratulations on this ambitious project. I have every bit of confidence that you will pull it off. We raised over 50k in 1.5 years towards our goal of $110,000 (almost half) for a little boulderfield in the concrete jungle of Atlanta. You all will do fantastic in getting support for a world class destination like the Red.

I am at your service, as is the website of the SCC. If you need anything dont hesitate to ask. I would also like to donate to your cause at the first chance.

Jeff, yes, I believe confidently we can do this. We may fail but we will definitely be the better for trying. I believe we are a lot smarter than you give us credit. And I don't mean just me.

Flaredcrack, I take your point, and appreciate the advice. It's a valid point. I will try to better in the future and follow it.

John you ask: Do you really have a better plan?

I might. If you and Shannon along with 4 members of the climbing community you pick and 4 that I select are willing to spend 4-6 hours meeting with Dr. Bill Crosby. I will pay to bring him in for this meeting. I will need your proposal before hand and whatever additional information you have to brief him on your objective, staff, members of your organization, political and business issues.

Dr Bill Crosby is a noted consultant specializing in organizing and structuring non-profit organizations in purchasing and often building large structures on the purchased land. (Don’t worry guys, I’m not suggesting we build anything) He knows the in(s) and out(s) of dealing with lending institutions and how to positively motivate individual members to participate both on a short term and long-term basis.

But don’t waste my time or his if you feel the services are not needed. I last thing I want to deal with is a group “Who knows not that they know not.”

If you feel that you “know and know that you know”, that fine you don’t need either one of us.

If you feel that “you know not and know that you know not”, and are willing to listen, then I’ll bring him in.

I, for one, must agree with Truenorth on his previous post.
Bill Cosby is a comedic genius. The man knows how to make people laugh.
I have always admired him. I loved The Cosby Show and was sad to see it go.

Truenorth, I would LOVE to meet Bill Cosby. He is a legend.

I thought that was always wise for "debates" and "concerns" when votes count.

Shannon: congratulations. I never meant to imply that I questioned your intelligence. I made my last post as your last post was coming in. It appears that you will not need my help or Dr. Crosby’s. My sincere apologies for over estimating the challenge and the questioning the strength of the coalition and it’s leadership.

I will now go back and craw in my hole and hope this thread quickly disappears to the bottom of the list.

wheather or not the coalition has comunicated well enough or bittenoff more than theyy can chew,they are the ones spending therre personal time doing things that will hopefully keep climbing at the red around for a long time.only time will tell.if all you do is go homeand watch t.v. ,do homework,go to the ymca ,get your car washed or just go to bed(whatever) then are you doing your part.hopefully these people who dont do these things will get the job done.

I hope that none of this thread is altered or deleted. Its a large abundance of important information that I am glad was discussed on a public forum.

Hell folks, Bberler, Shannon and then Johnny nailed my butt to the wall. Exhausted and tired I went to bed and then in the middle of the night, that old Indian lady re-appeared and laughed her ass off at me. Man I got to cut back on the coffee.

Thanks guy, everyone. We are a community diverse in many ways, sometime with difference. But in reality I agree with Shannon, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Now I have to figure out how to get this old hag out of my bedroom, before my wife finds her there.
