Does anyone have any trad gear recomendations for Roadside Attraction?
i am a college student trying to get into trad climbing but money is tight, so i can't really afford the $600 starter racks with a wide assortment of cams, hexes, nuts, etc. i am looking to buy enough pieces to do roadside attraction so i would like to know the sizes, quantities, and pieces that are recomended.
i realize that this kind of takes the fun out of trad climbing but in the words and wisdom of michael scott, "when in rome"
What school do you go to? Most colleges have a mountaineering club and you can borrow their gear for free. And hopefully you know you need a rope and a harness or else you probably don't have enough sense to get onto Roadside even though it is an easy climb. I hope you were kidding about that??? Good luck brother.
haha, yes i was kidding. i go to UK but they don't have much in the way of rental gear (that i know of), plus i would be weary of renting trad gear not knowing how it was previously used.
instead of buying gear- perhaps you should go out with a guiding service. RRO could take you up roadside and some other easy trad climbs so you learn what you need.
