Deep Water Free Solo in KY?

Post by lexguy »

Lake Herrington... 100+ft cliffs and 300 ft of water. Best climbing in Ky outside of The Red. Want to know more?

seems to me the rock there is all crumbly. Just like most of the Pallisades on the KY River. Let me know if I am wrong, I live real close to the lake.

Isn't lake Herrington covered by the same cliff jumping ban/fine that exists at other area lakes?

edit:
"Besides Grayson, other lakes in Kentucky (with bans) are Dewey, Fishtrap, Paintsville and Yatesville. The Ohio lakes are Alum Creek, Deer Creek, Delaware, Dillon, the North Branch of Kokosing River Lake, and Paint Creek. The lone Virginia lake involved is John W. Flannagan."

I have been trying for years to cut you off, but you still find ways of getting it.

I've climbed 40 ft choss at Ky Lake before, theres a rock quarry that people jump off all the time, i've done a couple routes up it (theres no ban, people jump all the time) but it's terrifying, i'm always afraid the holds are just going to crumble.
