Thanks for the route name idea.512OW wrote:I wouldn't even climb a route if it was named "Cardio".
Cardio
You wanna go on a ride one night Wes? I don't get off from work till like 9:30 but by then it's the perfect temperature.Wes wrote:To me, once you have *enough* cardio to run at an OK pace for 45 minutes or so, you are set for climbing. Training past that will not really help your climbing a much.
I just got a road bike a few weeks ago, and biking is way more fun the running. Esp. around Lexington.

I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

that sounds pretty good.Atl wrote:My cardio is kettlebell swings. 30 swing sets start on the top of every minute for about 30 minutes. I also do Tabata protocol sprints...sprint 20 sec and walk 10 sec rinse and repeat.

Re: Cardio
I do what your friend suggests - I set different goals with speed and incline and time, but I also run outdoors and I train for races. Setting the incline up is a better workout and I found is easier on my knees. I also use the stepmill to switch things up.bcombs wrote:A friend gave me a good idea about changing the incline and doing intervals to mix it up.
What do you guys do for cardio besides running? Or, do you have treadmill tricks to help with the boredom?
The best tip is to listen to music - it occupies your mind and increases endorphins, our bodies' natural painkillers. Maybe race the guy the next to you.
