With purchase of every two Tibet.
Boycott the China Olympics?
Maybe this should read another reason, Lurkist. But your observation, in my opinion is right on.the lurkist wrote:Free Tibet, blah, blah.... the reason to not go to the Olympics isn't to make a point about Human rights. Like someone said, we have no room to criticize. The reason to stick it to China is because there is a coming conflict with them as their economy becomes a/the world power. Everntually it is going to happen.
Personally,
I can't believe they gave the Chinese the Olympics in the first place, very bad idea. But since they didn't have the foresight to see what political crap would arise from this, I think it's about the athletes first and foremost. Most have spent all their lives trying to achieve the right to go. Just think how pissed any of you are when you take a road trip for the weekend and it rains. Well, train, live, eat, sleep, breathe, your sport--- basically plan the most important road trip of your life for 10-15 years and then have some political nutjob cancel it.

Voted no.
Olympics is for athletes, not for Richard Gere or Steven Spielberg to feel good about themselves.
Second, if you free Tibet now, there's gonna be a massacre. Tibetans are no angels. They'll slaughter or expel 20 mln ethnic Chinese who currently live in Tibet. Just like Gandhi's idealistic thinking about freedom led to ~1 mln dead and millions more displaced during the Partition of India and 200,000-3 mln dead during the war in Bangladesh later.
No dalai-lama can stop the civil war. He'll become irrelevant when Tibetans warlords begin their power struggle.
If it were not for some petty squabble over taxes back in 18 century, we would be living in a peaceful country like Canada or Australia with no history of slavery and civil war.

Yeah, its all about the athletes- thats why they're making them run 26.2 miles through Beijing smog.
Apparently the pollution levels will be monitored daily in order to make sure conditions are 'tolerable'.
They are supposed to reschedule events if the air quality is too poor- a sign of the times.
