Just curious, does 50% black = black? 25%? 12.5% 6.25% Where is the line drawn where you can call yourself black? Don't most "white" people have black people in their history and don't most "black" people have some white people in their history?

lurkist,
I'm plenty relaxed. Never did much 12b, but I've lead my share of 11X, you?
You say Obama's got a big dick and he's good with it. That's just great, but sorry, you're not getting any of mine.
Finally, I couldn't care less what skin color the prez has, or how good looking he might be. If that's important to you, fine.

Yep Pigs, unfortunately you can't be in politics in this country without having to claim to see at least one god. That is the way things are. People in this country would not believe the candidate were moral enough without a religion. . . . sad really.

99% of the prison pop is theist.
85% of the general pop is theist.

Tom Darch,
First, that whole thing about insecure white males worrying about a black president shit is weak, weak, weak!!!! In fact as stated before I accept the fact that Jesus could be and probably is blacker than me and hes my saviour.
So that whole argument is moot, now, I would also accept a Black Female President if the qualifacations were there, no problem!! I dont know who Hagee is and I watch more Liberal press than I do anything, so obviosly you are the only one who cares. I wont sacrifice my integrity to tell you how many Black friends, Family, or how tight we are to negate your earlier comment, but when your a soldier in war, there is no color, only brotherhood, but if you did'nt serve, you'll never understand what I'm talking about. It should not be a race issue at all, but a qualifacations issue, and I'm sorry, Mccain is the more qualified, its a proven fact, neither Hillary or Obam have the time on the trigger. I dont like any of them personnaly, but if I want to remain free and keep some of my money and my good insurance, I have to vote those issues and Mccain. I expect a lot more from you Tom......

Yes, I realize that I can't disprove your god. This is why I admit your god and all the gods currently in this beautiful diverse world as arbitrary possibilities. To these I add the thousands of gods throughout history. Since most of these societies held mutually exclusive religious beliefs and since I have no reason to favor one concept of god over the other, the trueness of your god diminishes. I refer to Greek and Hebrew mythology equally. What could be more clear than that?

So we are not on the same footing here. I realize that there is a problem with unceremoniously dismissing people's hypotheses about reality.

In an effort to stay off the soap box and on topic . . . What bothers me about religious politicos is that they are usually in one religious camp but they are supposed to be representing all of us. One of the many things that bothers me about the American political landscape is that it is so religious. The first commandment and the first amendment are at odds.

Obama disconnects from that ranting idiot . . . . but G. Bush in his run for the country did not have to disconnect from the ranting right wing Christians. The Catholics went to the poles that year with abortion on the mind. They wanted to avoid killing, so they voted for the war president. Religion simply fogs the vision.

Now this is some stuff that one could hear in the hood along with the conspiracy theories. When I read Hugh's remarks, I mentally put some hungry, angry rap in the background.

L Day, and all of you other insecure whiteys about to have your class position challenged by the first black president of the USA, before you cast stones at the plight of the black man in America, go do this route. THEN you MIGHT have some small incite into the words of Rev. Wright.

It all comes full circle back to the stone....
I'm out....

I think I can speak to this. I am 50/50: mother is black; father is white. I never had a race issue. My first wife was black my second wife is white. The importance of their race was nothing compare to other issues. My son is 25/75 and my daughter is 75/25. I don't really bother identifying either way.

Now the way I have to deal with society at large is another issue. I think when I meet many of you, you simply classify me as non-white and we go from there. There is really nothing I can do about your perspective. I will be to you as you define me. This is a truism. We make the world via our perspectives. Reality is likely the surface that our senses and notions paint over what is.

The bottom line is Obama likely does not identify--believe it or not. We paint Obama black. Rev Wright is trying to paint Obama black for his parishioners to vote for him.

It is a good thing that Obama chose a black woman for a mate. If he had a white wife there is no way that he would be in the running for the presidency.

You are right. I know that the stats say that the atheists in prison are less than 1%, but I find that a bit hard to believe. You can hit this web site, there are others. There are other studies also. The various sources are quoted:
http://atheistempire.com/reference/stats/main.html
this website has a laborious critique of the stats.
http://www.adherents.com/misc/adh_prison.html
They say that asking what religion a prisoner is should not be done. They also say that 20% of the prison population simply refused to answer and that these people could all be atheist. I don't think that the atheist prison population is less 1 or 2%. The studies convince me that unbelievers make up a much smaller prison population per capita than are represented in society however.

Atheist Prison Population Canadian Prisons
1925 Ca. prisoners Atheist/ Agnostic, non-religious Unitarian
0% of 1,2061

Steiner and Swancara Prison Population executed for murder at Sing-sing
1925 US Sing-Sing Pen. non-religious 0.33%

*
"The New Criminology," Max D. Schlapp and Edward E. Smith
Prison Population 1997
U.S. Prisoners Atheists 0.209%: 156 of 74,731

Caribe,
Equal footing is only important when in battle, we are not, so all things being what they are, heres my belief in a nut shell. I do not dismiss the possibility there could be other gods, all things are possible, I just have chosen one of them. I have studied all the East/West philosophies and religions. I studied the Talmud, the BhagavadGitta, the Koran and found wisdom and knowledge in each one, and also found that the Knowledge transcended them all in its equally useful way. They all say similar things, no matter how far apart in time they were written or translated.
I love the Taoist principle of following nature, I like the teachings of Gotama, the enlightened one(Bhudda), I like the teachings of Zen, I actually apply them to my life everytime I train in Martial arts or in combat. However, I know that philosophy and religion are seperate, after all these studies, I have come back to the one true God, but I still do not dismiss any one elses beliefs. I practice the looses form of Christianity, I believe the commandments as a guide to living a fairly clean life, but they are a guide... Where they fall short, I find what I need in the New Testament in the words of the man himself, Jesus. I pray for my enemies, whom ever they may be, I pray for all my friends, real or internet wise, I like your posts, I always take something away from them, I too question authority, both real and spiritually. So to label me a devout right wing bible thumper would be like me calling you an Evangellical Baptist Minister. You dont have to have letters behind your name to be educated, I got a PHD in street smarts I wouldnt trade for all your diplomas. I know a ton of Karate Black belts that couldnt fight their way out of a paper bag, so all those certificates saying how smart you are mean nothing t me, this puts us on equal ground in my book, but Caribe, I will still want to buy you a beer and shake your hand in friendship at Miguels if you like, I plan on being in the GORGE, a lot this year, so see you soon, pm me and tell me what beer you want
