his "enemies"...sounds eerily like the terrorism stuff w throws at us..are you buying it caribe?
Are you forgetting where the word "enemies" comes from in this context? It came out of Jesus' mouth. (Well, sorta. It's the word that some English translator chose in translating a Latin text, which was a translation of a ... anyway.)
also, since you are giving obama a mulligan, are you also sayng mccain does not have to distance himself from hagee? just curious.
Again, you haven't made your case that Rev. Wright is equivalent to Hagee. Once you have, then you can compare them and the candidates responses to them. Also, Obama went to church, and this guy was the pastor. (I'm assuming this was his local UCC church - anyone know?) McCain, had formerly pointed out that folks like Falwell and Sharpton were "agents of intolerance". But the new and un-improved McCain actively courted Hagee to get his endorsement. He essentially said 'I'm in a political race and I want this guy's political endorsement'. There's a huge difference between your pastor's political views and the political views of someone you court for a political endorsement. Even if you could somehow establish parity between the two, the circumstances are very different.
seriously, this is where you libbies break down (listen up caribe) don't you remember ripping "believers" for their make believe fairy tell faith? shouldn't we be out there decrying obama's 20 consecutive years of church attendance? doesn't this sort of fanaticism scare you?
If anything, the fact that this guy is saying these things in the context of being a Christian pastor, in his church as a sermon, makes what I've heard
less scary. OK, it's not simply that he's a Christian pastor, it's that he's a particular type of pastor. He reminds us of Jesus' call to love our "enemies." He isn't exactly using a weak, minority group (e.g. Jews or Gays) as whipping boys, he's pointing out the rich, white, often abusive power structure in America. (In one of these, he even acknowledges the white parishioners who are present.) He isn't calling for God's retribution to rain down somewhere else - when he says "God damn America" - he's including himself and his parishioners. These all strike me as fundamentally different from Hagee.
or is only when a neo con spouts faith that it bothers you.
It's off topic, but you really don't know what a neo con is. Hagee is a "Christian Zionist" who has aligned himself with the neo cons. Neo cons are not particularly motivated by their own religion per se.
unfortunately, you libs have embarassed yourself on this one...I heard multiple libbies trying to distance themselves from Wright's statements today....but you guys sit here and say "prove it...prove it....." it is beyond laughable. watch and listen to any 4-5 minutes of the youtube videos, and if you fail to see his divisive and incendiary language coming thru, then you are beyond helping with further proof.
he even rips hillary, for god's sake....geesh, you libs have a way of buryng your head in the sand that is far beyond common sense.
I'm asking for more than a few words. I suspect that when you see what he's actually saying written out, rather than hearing these words delivered forcefully and with a black American man's accent, you'll see that they aren't that big of a deal. I think when you look at the posts above, you'll see that a lot of the intensity of reaction is a bunch of white people who don't have a lot of contact with black people having a visceral reaction to a black man standing up for himself forcefully and pointing out the racist structures that are prevalent in America. He isn't calling for a disaster to wipe out America and kill innocent people, he's calling for all of us to recognize the problems that exist, take responsibility and to do better.
Oh, and while we've been yacking, Obama has condemned Wright's comments (but never specifically) and is distancing himself:
